We Cannot Afford David Redwine in the NC Senate

The Legislative Building
LELAND, NC – Frank Williams, a Brunswick County native and Chairman of the 7th Congressional District Republican Party, issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement that Brunswick County Democrat David Redwine will run for the N.C. Senate in District 8, which covers Brunswick, Pender and Columbus Counties:
“In the press release announcing his campaign for the State Senate, David Redwine said that one of his priorities would be ‘responsible spending.’ Unfortunately for the people of Brunswick, Columbus and Pender Counties, his voting record tells a different story. When he was a member of the N.C. House, David Redwine helped push through a budget that contained what WRAL TV5 called ‘the largest income tax increase in the country.’ Additionally, state spending nearly tripled during his tenure in Raleigh; that doesn’t sound like ‘responsible spending’ to me. Families and small business owners in Brunswick, Columbus and Pender Counties can’t afford David Redwine as their State Senator during these difficult economic times.”
