Looks like we struck a nerve…

by Frank Williams, 7th District Chairman

I was rather surprised to find this letter to the editor in this week’s Brunswick Beacon.

The letter begins as follows:  “It has already started. The ink was hardly dry on David Redwine’s filing papers before he was attacked by Frank Williams, chairman of the 7th Congressional District Republican Party.  Most people I know are tired of the ‘gotcha’ politics of chairman Williams.”

Looks like we struck a nerve.

The letter was written in response to an article in which this press release was quoted.  It is my understanding that the author of the letter is a “big-time Democrat” activist (the words in quotes are repeated verbatim from someone who knows the author of the letter).

The bottom line is that this person would not have fired off this letter if the Democrats weren’t nervous about losing the N.C. Senate seat R.C. Soles has held for virtually my entire life.

The letter did not refute my statement that, when he was a member of the N.C. House, David Redwine helped push through a budget that contained what WRAL TV5 called “the largest income tax increase in the country.”  Additionally, the letter does not refute the documented fact that state spending nearly tripled during David Redwine’s tenure in Raleigh.

The citizens of Brunswick, Pender and Columbus counties need common-sense conservative leadership that will change the way Raleigh does business.   We don’t need more of the same.
