RALEIGH, N.C. – Senate Republican Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) responded to the decision by the State Board of Elections to fine Governor Perdue’s campaign $30,000 for knowingly failing to report flights during the course of her 2008 campaign. Governor Perdue is the first sitting governor to be fined for violating campaign finance laws.
Senator Berger made the following statement:
“Republicans have said for months that Governor Perdue violated campaign finance laws. The decision by the State Board of Elections and unprecedented fine confirmed that to be the case. I hope that other legal authorities will continue to investigate these violations.”

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Congressman Mike McIntyre, in a press release on August 10th claimed that he supported the twenty six billion dollar Education, Jobs, and Medicaid Assistance Act because it saved the teachers’ jobs. According to the Congressman’s own press release, which is now missing from his website, “In the 7th District alone, over 646 teachers’ jobs will be saved.” Then at last week’s Congressional Candidates Debate, the Congressman claimed 533 jobs were saved. National Republican Congressional Committee — Washington, D.C. — In another attempt to distract from their record of runaway spending and economic failure, House Democrats have handed down new marching orders for the week to Mike McIntyre. Their latest strategy to gloss over their job-killing agenda is to instruct loyal followers like McIntyre to highlight the party’s so-called small business agenda. Likely missing from the latest directive, however, is any mention that Washington Democrats are pushing forward with a plan to slam small businesses with massive tax hikes that are certain to kill jobs, prevent businesses from hiring, and set the already-struggling economy back even more.
