This event, which was held at the Front Porch Restaurant in Elizabethtown, was a gathering of current or prospective Young Republican leaders from across the district (as an aside, membership in the Young Republicans is open to Republicans ages 18-40).  Jonathan Bandy, State Chairman of the N.C. Federation of Young Republicans, made the trip down from Raleigh to attend today’s meeting.  Mike Unruh, a Cumberland County YR and the NCFYR’s Director of Club Development, was also in attendance.

October 13, 2009 in News | Comments (0)

North Carolina is trending Republican in the 2010 Congressional and Legislative races, according to poll results released today by Public Policy Polling.

Today’s results show Republicans leading 48%-38% on the generic Congressional ballot and 46%-39% on the generic legislative ballot.  This represents a seismic shift in North Carolina’s political climate:  one year ago, the John William Pope Civitas Institute showed Democrats leading the generic legislative ballot 46%-37%.

Full results of the Public Policy Polling survey are posted here.

Today’s Grassroots Training in Fayetteville

October 11, 2009 in News | Comments (0)

by Frank Williams, 7th District Chairman

Today’s 7th District grassroots training in Fayetteville was quite successful.  We had 18 attendees from five different counties (not including the trainers).  I was particularly pleased with the number of Young Republicans in attendance.

As I have visited counties throughout the 7th District I have been encouraged by the energy level among conservative activists.  The level of energy and interest among those who attended today’s training was no different.  Photos from today’s training can be viewed here.
